Message From the Dean

Welcome to the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences, Lumbini Buddhist University.

We are witnessing unprecedented social and economic changes. Tremendous challenges are awaiting us in the post-pandemic era. The faculty of humanities and social sciences at LBU generates and promotes knowledge, based on the teaching of the Lord Buddha, through in-depth research and education with virtue, to overcome the crisis and enhance global peace and prosperity – one of the major goals of the proposition for an international Buddhist university at Lumbini in the first World Buddhist Summit held in Lumbini from 30th November to 2nd December 1998.

With distinguished faculty members, the faculty of humanities and social sciences offers outstanding academic programs at undergraduate and graduate levels in the field of international relations and peace, law, tourism, rural development, and so forth in Lumbini and different parts of Nepal such as Kathmandu, Butwal, and Dang. Exploring the teaching of the Lord Buddha in each program and subject, e.g., The Buddhist Jurisprudence in law program, is the most unique feature of our faculty’s curricula. Promoting Lumbini and Buddhist sites of Nepal, through interdisciplinary and collaborative research, is a key activity of our faculty.

The Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences fully complies with the regulatory institutions regarding the credit load with various components of the courses (such as remedial/bridge, core, elective, practical, and research). We are dedicated to strengthening the quality of students adopting more learner-centric approaches and technologies in education. We are committed to linking more and more social science scholars to generate ideas to overcome socioeconomic issues in the land of the birthplace of Lord Buddha. We aim to create a global educational hub of peace and prosperity. Once again, I would like to welcome you all to join this Faculty in achieving your academic career goals.
