- INTRODUCTION
Lumbini Buddhist University (LBU) is located at Lumbini, which is the birthplace of Lord GautamBuddha, Lumbini, the fountain of World Peace. LBU is an autonomous and public institution of higher learning committed to the mission to educate the People of Nepal and enrich the global learning community through the application of core Buddhist values and promotes World Peace from Nepal.
University is established on 14th June 2004 and since then-innovative academic programs relevant to socioeconomic development and current professional trends has been a trademark of this prestigious institution. Understanding that higher education is the foundation for knowledge creation, dissemination, application, and innovation necessary for driving social, economic, and political development. LBU intends to develop academic programs, undertake research activities, and interface with communities and societies with the mission of propagating peace and prosperity for all.
Under Faculties of Humanities and Social Sciences, Lumbini Buddhist University is imparting the Bachelor of Arts and Bachelor in Law Program (BALLB) 5-year program with honors in Buddhism from 2076 B.S. successfully.
- SCOPE OF BA LLB PROGRAMME
Law is one of the popular fields of education and there has always been a good demand for law courses amongst the students. Legal education is generally a professional education, which requires adequate desired doctrinal knowledge of the law, legal skills, and attitude for responding to national needs. BA LLB program targets to produce pure legal professional manpower as per the need of the nation.
After BALLB, you can get an opportunity to work in various fields as mentioned below:

– Government Agencies
-Bank
Further, one can apply for government sector jobs. In the government sector, you can work in different fields such as tax, defense, and labor departments such as

- Public Prosecutors

After gaining knowledge in their fields you can even become an advocate in the law court, Legal Adviser in any organization, Solicitor General, Public Prosecutor, and Lawyers handling tax division in big firms.
- ELIGILIBILITY REQUIREMENT
Students with C+ Grade or 50% obtained at Plus 2 and Intermediate levels are eligible to apply for admission into the program. Eligible students may apply to LBU by filling out an application form available or an appropriate application form available online. Admission to the program will take place on a yearly basis. To be eligible for any program, the candidate will need to appear on a written entrance examination followed by an interview. The maximum number of students for BALLB accepted yearly is set to 80 students per year.
- APPLICATION PROCEDURE
Application form along with prospectus can be obtained from the office of LBU on payment of Rs.1,000/- in person. Application cum Prospectus may also be downloaded from the university website (www.old.lbu.edu.np). The duly filled-in application form along with required documents is required to be deposited at the college office in person.

- ENTRANCE PROCEDURE
Selection of the students shall be made strictly on the basis of career-cum-entrance test with the following areas and break-up of marks: –

- SELECTION FOR ADMISSION
Selection for admission will be made on the basis of a career-cum-entrance test. To get admission to the BALLB program at LBU, students should secure a position in the merit list published after an entrance examination.
- COURSE FEE
Each candidate is required to pay a sum of Rs. 55,575/· (Rupees Fifty Fice Thousand Five Hundred Seventy-Fifty Only) towards the course fee for the first semester and Rs.42,575/- (Forty-two Thousand Five Hundred Seventy-Five only) each towards course fee from Second to Tenth-semester raft drawn. However, the course fee is subject to change in accordance with the decision of the Executive Committee of the University which will be intimated to the students sufficiently ahead of their re-admission.

- COURSE STRUCTURE
B.A. LL.B Degree shall be awarded to students on successful completion of ten semesters. In ten semesters, there shall be 64 papers. The course structure of the program will have 180 credits in ten semesters as explained in the curriculum section:
10. ATTENDANCE
A candidate in order to qualify him /herself to appear in the Semester Examination shall have to secure at least 80% of classroom attendance in each paper of that Semester.
11. SYSTEM OF EXAMINATION
Internal Evaluation
Each course carries 100 evaluation marks, out of which the final examination carries 60 marks (60 percent) and the internal examination carries 40 marks (40 percent). The subject teacher will be responsible for conducting the internal assessment of students. The Academic Council has recommended the following assignment structure as a guideline for internal assignments and evaluation. The scheme does not apply to field study, internship, and another practical and experimental type of courses.

External Examination
Sixty percent of students’ marks or grades will come from an external exam, which will be conducted by the Office of Examinations Controller. Details about the exam will be provided by the program administration later.
Note: Students must have 80% attendance in each semester and must secure at least 50% marks in internal evaluation in order to sit for external examination.
- DEGREE REQUIREMENTS
To graduate from the BALLB program, students must complete a minimum number of required courses with a total of 180 credits, with not less than 50 marks or 2.5 GPA in the course. A cumulative grade point average (CGPA) of 2.5 is required for graduation. The University will convert all numerical grades into letter grades based on an approved conversion method.

Graduates from our BALLB program are expected to be employed in the legal profession in both private and public sectors. A number of our students will go on to enroll in LLM programs in Nepal and abroad.
